Snacks

Húsaskóli is a health-promoting school. Students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks and water bottles that can be refilled throughout the day.

Phone use

All use of mobile phones/smart devices is prohibited at Húsaskóli except with specific permission from teachers. If a student is using or carrying a phone in common areas, outdoor spaces, or classrooms, school staff will follow these procedures: A. In common areas, staff will ask the student to hand over their phone and escort them to the school office to deposit it. The student may retrieve their phone from the office at the end of the school day. If a student refuses to surrender their phone, they will be directed to the school office to speak with school administrators. The incident will be documented in Mentor. Students are encouraged to resolve the matter promptly by handing over their phone and collecting it from the office after school ends. B. If a student has a phone during class time, they will be removed from the lesson and sent to the school office where they must turn in their phone. The incident will be recorded in Mentor. These rules apply both inside Húsaskóli buildings and throughout the school grounds.

Attendance guidelines

The school emphasizes student punctuality. Primary school attendance is mandatory, which means children and young people ages 6-16 must attend school. Parents and guardians are responsible for making sure their children enroll in primary school, attend school, and keep up with their studies.

If attendance issues arise, parents/guardians and the school must respond. To ensure effective responses, Reykjavík's primary schools follow unified guidelines and rules.
